Peter B. Bradford

Peter Blomgren Bradford was born in Chicago and grew up in Des Moines, IA. He earned a BA in history at Grinnell College then his JD from the University of Tulsa College of Law in 1961 before beginning a fifty-three year career as a litigator, arbitrator and mediator. He served for three years as an Air Force JAG officer in Japan before returning to Tulsa, where he practiced with the City of Tulsa until he joined the McAfee & Taft law firm in Oklahoma City in 1968. In 1984, he helped form the Daugherty, Bradford, Fowler and Moss law firm. In 1994, Peter joined the Conner & Winters law firm, helping to open its Oklahoma City office. He worked in commercial, employment, criminal defense and construction law. He also arbitrated hundreds of cases throughout the southwest for the American Arbitration Association. In addition, he taught ADR Law at OU Law School for several years. Peter was a fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers and President of the Oklahoma County Bar Association. In 2006, he was honored to receive the Lifetime Achievement Award from the University of Tulsa, where he helped establish the Charles L. Owens Endowed Scholarship Fund. He was an active member of Mayflower Congregational UCC Church, serving as deacon and trustee and volunteering with Whiz Kids and the homeless. Peter also served for 12 years as a docent at the OKC Museum of Art, sharing his love of art with schoolchildren, and enjoyed awarding college scholarships through his involvement with Lions Club. He was an avid jazz and blues fan and delighted in performances by Louis Armstrong, Duke Ellington, Winton Marsalis and many other greats. A devoted traveler, he hiked up Mount Fuji and enjoyed equally exploring Rome or trout fishing in Gore, OK. He was an optimistic golfer, talented photographer and a true blue Thunder fan. Peter passed away peacefully at his home with his loving family surrounding him. He was preceded in death by his mother, Helen Bradford, and he is survived by his wife of 47 years, Georgann; daughter Robin Bradford and her husband Jim Williams of Austin, TX; son Timothy Bradford and his wife Tamara Smith of Oklahoma City, OK; three grandsons, Copeland, Tristan, and Dimitri; a cousin, Diane Blomgren of Des Moines, IA; and many other beloved family members and friends. The family is grateful to Good Shepherd Hospice, especially Roxanna Alexander, for loving care. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, December 18 at Mayflower Congregational UCC Church, 3901 N.W. 63rd Street. The family asks that in lieu of flowers donations be made to Mayflower Medical Outreach (mmonicaragua.org), the Charles L. Owens Endowed Scholarship Fund at the University of Tulsa College of Law, or your favorite charity.
