Peter Lewis Boatright, 81, was born on Aug. 20, 1931 in Temple, TX to Dr. Lloyd and Mrs. Helen Boatright. On Sept. 5, 2012, surrounded by his family Pete died peacefully at home from complications of Multiple Myeloma Cancer, but now we rejoice that he is completely healed and with our Lord Jesus. Pete was a lifelong resident of Oklahoma City and a member of Wesley United Methodist Church since he was baptized there as a baby. After attending Central High School he served in the US Navy from 1951-1954 during the Korean War. Pete was an accomplished Attorney and Certified Public Accountant. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of Oklahoma in 1957 and his Juris Doctorate from the OU College of Law. He started his career as an accountant for J. Norman Foster. Thereafter, in 1960 he served at Goldman Enterprises as Senior Vice President, Treasurer and Chief Financial Officer. In the early 1980's, he was employed as President of Management Associates, Inc. and Shiloh Oil Corp., both of OKC. In 1985, he returned to Goldman where he served as President and Chief Operating Officer until 1996. Pete established many business contacts during his career and was widely known for his integrity and business judgment. He provided countless hours of private tax consulting and financial management for several business affiliates, family members, and friends. Pete served on the Board of Directors of Coppermark Bank and was Chairman of the Audit and Loan Committee. Pete was a board member of the OK United Methodist Foundation, where he was Chairman of the Investment Committee. He enjoyed serving his community through Mobile Meals, Whiz Kids and the Oklahoma Foundation for the Disabled. Pete has been a loyal fraternity brother for the Alpha Tau Omega fraternity since he attended college at the University of Oklahoma. For decades to follow, Pete volunteered as an ATO chapter advisor and accountant training underclassmen in business and finance. Pete enjoyed life and gave his best to all that he encountered. Family vacations to Crested Butte and Padre Island and traveling with his dearest friends were some of his fondest memories that he and Frances enjoyed together. Mr. Boatright is preceded in death by his parents and his brother Lloyd. He was an amazing father, husband and grandfather. He is survived by the love of his life, Frances Matlock Boatright. They celebrated 56 years of marriage on August 12th. He is also survived by his sisters, Mildred "Ditty" Tuepker, Margaret Russell and his brother's wife Harriett Boatright as well as Pete's three sons & their wives; Rex & Mary of Edmond, Bart & Cathy of Tulsa and Todd and Geri of Blanchard. "Papa Pete" was loved and will be missed by his nine grandchildren; Bethany, Dustin, Meredith, Lewis & Mark of Edmond, Davis & Bryant of Tulsa and Caleb & Canon of Blanchard. The Celebration of Life for Peter Lewis Boatright will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, September 8, 2012 at Wesley United Methodist Church, 1405 N.W. 25th, OKC, OK 73106. Formal visitation will be held from 4 p.m.-7 p.m. on Friday, September 7th, at Smith & Kernke Funeral Home;1401 N.W. 23rd, OKC, OK.
