Philip Hughes

Philip Hughes, 61, passed away on June 22, 2014 and was born on September 25, 1952 in Oklahoma City. Philip was the son of Richard L. Hughes and Shirley Hughes. He attended Milwood Junior High School and then John Marshall High School. His college career began at Coe College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. After two years at Coe he transferred to Oklahoma University where he received his degree in Electrical Engineering. He first worked for Mobil Oil in Enid and then Exxon Oil in Houston, Texas for about 12 years. From there He went to AOL for about two years and from there he retired and occasionally would drive the school bus for kids at the elementary level. He is survived by his father, Richard L. Hughes; his daughter, Alyson Hughes of Houston, TX; his sister Jennifer Loeffel and husband Peter of Milwaukee, WI; three brothers, Jon and Steven Hughes of Milwaukee, WI and Timothy Hughes of Portland, OR; a half sister, Rebecca Hughes Wint and husband Jason of Oklahoma City; two nieces, Abby and Alexis Loeffel; and a very special friend Linda Wood. Philip was active in both Houston and Oklahoma in talking about his plan for the railroad to several groups in those cities. Philip had a brilliant mind and was convincing in his talk about the necessity of rail transportation for the people.
