I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith! Philip N. Shadid son of the Very Rev. Neyematallah and Khouria Hafeetha Shadid was called to his heavenly home on January 9, 2014. He was born on October 26, 1924 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. In 1933 Phil's father took his family and returned to Lebanon to become Priest of St. George Orthodox Church in Jdeidet Marjeyoun, Lebanon. Phil was very active in the Church, first as an altar boy then choir director and chanter. Since Phil was an American citizen, he was drafted from Lebanon into the U. S. Army and served during World War II. He was a member of the 128th MP infantry battalion. He was very active and proud of his military service as he was very proud to be an American. During his military career, war was raging through many countries. His military tour of duty took him throughout Africa and Europe. He was honorably discharged in 1947 and returned to his hometown Oklahoma City. He became interested in sales and entered into the food brokerage business and continued in that business until his retirement. Phil was an avid sports' fan and never missed watching OU, OSU and Thunder games. He could answer any sport trivia question. He had an enormous heart and loved spending time with his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, brother, Morris Shadid and the mother of his children, Dorothy Shadid. Phil is survived by his wife Barbara of the home, daughter Phyllis Shadid, daughter Delores Callison and husband Jim, son Philip Shadid and wife Anita, and stepchildren Mark Pearson and wife Toni, Cindy Falkenstein and husband Chuck, and Tony Pearson. He is also survived by his sister Velma Taylor, brother, Jim Shadid and wife Jeanette, sister, Neena Haddad and husband Phil. He is also survived by grandchildren Joey and Jason Schrodi, Delores and husband Jarrett Maxwell, Clifford James, Christian, Aleasha, Christina and Andrew Shadid, and Eric and Brittney Pearson, great grandchildren Quint and Kyra Schrodi, Amelia Maxwell and Gracin. Phil is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews and many, many cousins. Visitation with the family will be held Sunday, January 12th at Smith & Kernke Funeral Home on North May from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Trisagion Prayers of Mercy and Funeral will be held Monday January 13th at 10:00 a.m. St. Elijah Orthodox Church at 150th & North May, with Interment following at Bethany Cemetery.
