Phillip "Phil" DeWitt Harris passed away peacefully on August 31, 2022 after a brief illness. Phil was born to Russell and Ruth Harris in Oklahoma City on April 3, 1939 and grew up in Hugo and Shawnee and attended Shawnee High School ('57) where he was involved in Boys State and Youth Government. He graduated from Oklahoma State University in 1963 where he was a member of the Phi Delta Theta fraternity. In 1965 Phil married the love of his life, Cathie Shaw and they had 2 children together. The early days of their marriage were spent in Dallas, Houston, Enid (13 years) and they have resided in Oklahoma City since 1981. Phil enjoyed a long successful career in Medical Sales until his retirement in 2008.Phil was a loyal friend who loved to fish, loved to dance, played weekly tennis at the Greens until a month ago, an avid fan of all OSU athletics and a wonderful father and Gumpy. He led by quiet example by loving his family, having a strong work ethic, celebrating his many friends, and loving the Lord. He will be greatly missed by family and long-time close friends.Phil is survived by son Randy of Oklahoma City; daughter Carrie and her husband Jeff Lee of Centreville, VA; his grandchildren Joshua, Kaleb, Phillip Kirk "PK" and Luke Harris; Jack, Cate, and Henry Lee. By his sister Lynda McDaniel and husband Ronnie of Ft. Smith, AR; sisters-in-law, Judy Cowden of Guthrie, Patty Leonard of Edmond, and Margaret Shaw of OKC. He was preceded in death by his wife, Cathie, his parents Ruth and Russell and his brother Russ. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name to American Cancer SocietyViewing will be Tuesday Noon-7pm with the family present to greet friends during visitation from 5pm to 7pm at Smith & Kernke N.
