Phillip Jay Wright

Dr. Phillip Jay Wright, age 84 of Oklahoma City passed away February 15, 2020 after a brief illness. He was born May 2, 1935 to J. Carl and Velma (Culp) Wright in Sentinel, Oklahoma. Phil graduated from Cordell High School in 1955 and continued his education at OU. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering in 1959. In 1961, he earned a Doctorate from the OU School of Medicine. He was multi-talented, an exquisite painter, exceptional pianist, and had a deep passion for music.Phil was preceded in death by his parents and his first wife, Janice (Murphy) Wright. He is survived by wife, Thu (Nguyen) Wright; a nephew, Donald K. Wright; and niece, Sheila Wright Young.A Buddhist Evening Prayer Service will be held Thursday, February 20, 2020 at the Smith & Kernke 23rd Street Chapel from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Following Buddhist prayers, beginning at 8:30 a.m. Friday, February 21st at the 23rd Street Chapel, a Celebration of Life Service will begin at 10:00 a.m. Graveside services will be 1:00 p.m. Friday at Rose Hill Cemetery in Chickasha, Oklahoma.
