Phyllis Ann Fry

Phyllis Ann Fry of Oklahoma City, 54, passed unexpectedly February 27, 2020. "Beloved wife and mother" is generally a cliché, but for Phyllis they were treasured achievements. Her professional life was varied—she was an expert with computers back when most people didn't know what they were, was a beta tester for early versions of the World Wide Web, and was an IT manager and network engineer at Swarthmore College in Pennsylvania. After computers became normal, she did real estate with her mother and rehabilitated abandoned houses with her sister, Susan-- before anyone made TV series about that. She made homes for regular people rather than luxury mansions for the elite. Her deepest joy was not her work, but her family and extended network of close friends. Phyllis was patient with the foibles of others; a born caretaker, and generous with her energy and time. Phyllis was a fantastic provisioner and a good cook who was always ready to feed lots of people. Phyllis's great loves in life were her wife and partner of 24 years, Dorothy, and their child Georgena. Phyllis doted on them and her thoughts were always on making life better for her family.Phyllis is preceded in death by her parents, Marion Robinson and W. Phil Fry and her older sister, Mary. Phyllis is survived by brothers John and Bill Fry, sister Susan Brown, two generations of niece and nephews, and beloved friends.
