Phyllis Ann, 86, stepped over into glory to be with her Lord and Savior on Oct. 6, 2018. She was born on Oct. 8, 1931, in Oklahoma City, to Thurman and Helen Marlar. Phyllis graduated Putnam City High School in 1949 and Central State Teachers College (now UCO) in Aug. 1952, and married Elta Howard Jayne in April 1953. She worked at KWTV, Channel 9, in Oklahoma City, while Howard attended medical school. They lived in Cleveland, Ohio, for three years while Howard did his residency at the Cleveland Clinic; they then lived in Southern California before moving back to Edmond, Okla., in 1994. Phyllis was baptized in California in 1984 at Crossroads Christian Church. She served in the American Cancer Society, and was active in adult reading programs and Bible Study Fellowship. She was preceded in death by her parents Thurman and Helen Marlar, and her husband of 65 years, Howard. She is survived by daughter Karen Jayne, of Oklahoma City; son David Jayne and his wife Ann Jayne, and their sons Ian and Justin, of Edmond, Okla.; son Gary Jayne and his wife Ann Jayne, and their sons Conrad and Wyatt, of Tracy, Calif.; son Russell Jayne and his wife Cheryl, and their children Andrew, Nicole and Timothy, of Las Vegas, Nev.; and by her brother Richard Marlar, of Boulder, Colo. Visitation will be held on Friday, Oct. 19 at Smith & Kernke, 14624 N. May. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 20 at Memorial Park Cemetery, 13313 N. Kelley.
