Rae Moore

Rae Ours Moore, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend passed away April 8, 2010 in Austin Texas. Always loving, loyal, and compassionate Rae made all our lives better for 67 years. Born January 18, 1943 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Robert Ray Ours and Frances George Ours. She was graced at an early age with a deep love for animals. She attended Oklahoma University and was a member of the Alpha Chi Omega Sorority. Rae was elegant and sophisticated which made her excel as a stewardess for American Airlines during the glory years of luxury air travel. Rae married Jim L. Moore on June 4, 1965 in Oklahoma City. They have 2 lovely daughters Kristen M. Sardiña and Kandace L. Moore. Over the years the family lived in several cities throughout the country but Rae never lost sight of her roots in Oklahoma. She easily made friends and was frequently called upon for service and held leadership positions in multiple social and charitable organizations including: The Kiwi Club; Missouri Archeological Society; The Junior League; Daughters of the American Revolution; Daughters of the Confederacy; The Republican National Committee; and was a lifetime member of the Commemorative Air Force where she achieved the rank of Colonel. She was admired for her benevolence. Rae loved to travel, play golf, read and enjoy her family. She had an extensive and diverse library. Always willing to engage in intellectual debate, Rae could easily hold in depth discussion on a wide variety of subjects ranging from ancient philosophical thought to the finer points of American Civil War History. She was passionate in her support of democracy and the American political process. Always courteous, graceful, and courageous she was extraordinarily well versed in the finer points of the social graces: including health, beauty, and fashion. She is survived by her husband Jim of Austin, Texas, her daughters Kristen Sardiña and Kandace Moore and her grandchildren Olivia Kate Sardiña and Carlos A. Sardiña III, all of St. Louis, Missouri. She will be terribly missed by her family and her constant companion Charles the Cat.
