Randall "Randy" James Brown went home to be with his Lord and Savior on April 21st, 2017, at the age of 65. Randy and his twin brother Brad were born in Los Angeles, California. However, Randy and his siblings grew up in La Cañada. He enjoyed family trips to their mountain cabin and to local beaches. He was an avid sports enthusiast. He especially loved surfing, diving and beach volleyball. He graduated from La Cañada High and San Diego State University. While at SDSU, he played on the basketball team and was president of his fraternity. During a fraternity meeting, a member of Campus Crusade for Christ spoke about the Gospel. It was there, Randy received Christ as his Lord and Savior and his life was forever changed. After graduating from college, he joined a ministry of Campus Crusade called Athletes in Action. He began their volleyball ministry, where he would share his testimony and give an invitation for others to receive Christ. Randy met his wife Debbie in 1978 (who was also serving with AIA) and they married in 1980. From California, they moved with AIA to Raleigh North Carolina. While ministering at N.C. State to the various athletic teams and coaches, many young men came to know the Lord. He was especially close to the Jimmy Valvano basketball team that won the NCAA title in 1983. Also, while in Raleigh, all three of their wonderful children were born. In 1987, they moved to Oklahoma City, where Randy served on staff with Scope Ministries as a counselor. After serving at Scope, he went on to become an ordained minister. He showed the love of Christ wherever he went, whether preaching at churches and nursing homes or leading Bible studies. He was also a faithful employee for years at Sam's Club and Braums. He was preceded in death by his parents DeVillo and Arla Brown. He is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Debbie, his son Eric, and daughters Christine and Alicia, as well as his daughter-in-law, Jessica and grandson, Arlo. He is also survived by his siblings- JoNell Rogers, Lucinda McShane, Denslow Brown and wife Linda Smith, and Bradford Brown and his wife Hollie. Memorial Service will be held Thursday, April 27th, 2017 at 2:30pm at Smith and Kernke Funeral Chapel at 14624 N. May Ave, Oklahoma City, OK 73134.
