Randall “Randy” Jerome Mengers passed away on December 19, 2023, at the age of 78.
Randy was born in Oklahoma City on March 5, 1945, and was a lifelong Oklahoma resident. He graduated from Northeast High School, attended Oklahoma State University, and received his bachelor’s degree from Central State University in Edmond, all while working hard to support and care for his family.
Randy began his professional career with APCO Oil Corporation and went on to build his own successful business as Owner and President of Solo Oil. He was a long-time member of Oklahoma Petroleum Marketers and the Oklahoma City Chamber of Commerce. In addition to his professional associations, Randy was a member of the Masonic Lodge, where he recently received his 50-year pin, and the Corvette Club. He spent many weekends traveling with friends and his life partner, Glenna Mills, in his prized Corvette. He enjoyed visits to Las Vegas and to horse races with friends and family. Randy loved sports of all kinds, but he especially loved watching OSU Cowboys football and playing golf. He never missed an opportunity to celebrate and gather his family around him.
His love and zest for life, family, and friends was infectious – as was his laughter and wry sense of humor. He was an incredibly loyal friend and a generous employer. Randy was the best father, grandfather, partner, and friend one could ask for, and he will be deeply missed by many.
Randy is preceded in death by his parents, Walter Fredrick and Christalena Marlow Mengers, and his former wife, Penelope Irene Mengers. He is survived by his dearest companion and love of more than 20 years, Glenna Mills; sister Jerelyn Adams of Arlington, Texas; son Mark Randall Mengers; daughter Shawn Christy Witcher; son-in-law James Christopher Witcher; and grandchildren John Randall Mengers, Jenifer Christy Witcher, and Julia Gill Witcher.
A memorial service will be held for Randy on Friday, January 12, at 2:00 pm at Westminster Presbyterian Church (4400 N. Shartel Ave. in Oklahoma City).
