Rev. David A. Cowden

Reverend David Armstead Cowden, died March 23, 2015, in Oklahoma City after a long illness. Father Cowden was born on October 30, 1950, in Hobart, Oklahoma, to Thomas Cowden, Jr. and Ruth A. (Holshouser) Cowden. He was ordained to the priesthood on May 29, 1982 at the Cathedral of Our Lady of Perpetual Help, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Father Cowden attended Oklahoma City University, St. Meinrad College and the University of Dallas/Holy Trinity Seminary prior to his ordination. Father Cowden retired from active ministry in 2007 due to medical issues. Father Cowden is survived by his brothers John B. Cowden, Oklahoma City and Tom Cowden, Edmond and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be on Thursday, March 26th from 10am to 7pm at Smith & Kernke Funeral Home. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Francis de Sales Chapel, Catholic Pastoral Center, Oklahoma City on Friday, March 27th at 3pm with interment at Fairlawn Cemetery, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
