Reva Jeanne Ferguson

Reva Jeanne Williams Ferguson passed away at home surrounded by her loving family on November 29, 2024. Born on December 15, 1934 in Muskogee, Oklahoma, to Alex and Reva Williams. Jeanne was the youngest of their six children.

She graduated from Muskogee High School and then attended Northeastern State College in Tahlequah, OK where she met Paul Ferguson. They were married on July 6, 1956. In addition to being wife and mother, she was active in her husband's political campaigns and his legal practice as his assistant and office manager. She also worked several years for the Oklahoma Department of Civil Defense.

She was active in church and community organizations. Jeanne was an inaugural member and passionate supporter in establishing St. Monica Catholic Church in Edmond. As the church was being constructed, she opened her home for daily services and as office space. She volunteered as the church secretary, coordinator of charity funds for the church, and for many other roles. She made multiple mission trips to Guatemala and she was a devoted participant in the church’s Perpetual Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament.

After her husband's death in 1993, Jeanne fulfilled a lifelong desire to travel. She visited the Pacific Northwest, toured Europe, and visited the Holy Lands and the Vatican. But as much as she enjoyed travelling, what she enjoyed most was being Grandma Jeanne.

Grandma Jeanne's house was Celebration Central for family events and holidays. Birthday parties were constantly being planned and celebrated. Easter was prime time for the little ones and their egg hunts. Thanksgiving was mostly family, but friends were always welcome. Halloween was a party for everyone. Christmas Eve centered around Grandma Jeanne as family gathered around her with food, gifts, and Christmas milk.

Jeanne was preceded in death by her husband Paul and her youngest son Michael (Paula Hatcher); her parents Alex and Reva, her sisters Willie Mae Nelson and Norma Jane Bain; her brothers Alex Arlander Jr., James Franklin, and Howard McDonald (Janie) Williams.

Grandma Jeanne is survived by her children, Mark (Shelly) Ferguson, Laura Ferguson, and Kyle (Sherri) Ferguson, by her grandchildren Katie, Jessica, Eric, Meagan, Matthew, Teresa, and Jessi, and by her great grandchildren Kaylee, Philip, Dylan, Dominic, Santino, Carmine, and Bella.

The family would like to express their gratitude to the caregivers from Enhabit Home Hospice that attended Mom in her final months. They cared for her with their hearts as well as with their skills.

Jeanne requested that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to St. Eugene Catholic Church.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Eugene Catholic Church on Tuesday, December 10th at 11:00 AM to be followed by a private graveside service.
