On May 7, 2017, Dick Pulliam passed away peacefully in his home at the age of 84, following a short battle with cancer. He lived his life to the fullest and if one word could describe him, it would be "Fearless".
He was born May 20, 1932 in Oklahoma City, the only child to Doss and Evelyn Pulliam. He graduated from Classen High School in 1951 and furthered his education at the University of Oklahoma. While attending the university, Dick enjoyed being part of the OU wrestling team.
He served with the Army 11th Airborne Division in Ft. Campbell, KY and the 82nd Airborne division in Ft. Bragg, NC. During his time in the Army, Dick joined the special service's wrestling team and volunteered as a life guard.
Upon leaving the Army, he assumed ownership of the family business, Guaranty Laundry Company. Dick took this small retail dry cleaning company and expanded it into a thriving commercial laundry business serving the healthcare industry throughout Oklahoma for 49 years. His other businesses included Rollett Mfg., Guaranty Computing and CHS Textile Services. In 1991, he spearheaded the founding of Okla. Association of Textile Services. In 2006, he sold the laundry business and retired. He kept active with his manufacturing company and invented and sold the Bucket Basket.
He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends skiing at the lake and in the mountains. Rosie was the love of his life. His daughters meant everything to him and in turn he meant the world to them. He was loving, generous and our "Rock". He was affectionately known as "Bull of the Woods".
Dick is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Rosie, daughter's Karen Ohlheiser, Evelyn Pulliam, Marilee Luna and husband, Jack, and Juli Meek and husband, Terry, grandchildren Amy, Jamie, Aaron, Katie, Allie and one great grandson, Alex.
