Richard Joseph Radke

Richard J. Radke, 92, passed away on October 8, 2014. He was born in Chicago, Illinois to Joseph & Felicia Radke on November 12,1921. He married Stephanie Osypka on October 16,1943. The next day Richard graduated from the Illinois Institute of Technology at the age of 21, and on October 25 he was hired by Western Electric Company. In the 1950's, Richard & Stephanie had four children, and in July, 1962 was transferred to Oklahoma City. The family was active in school and church activities at St. Patrick's and later at St. Francis parishes. After 41 years of service at Western Electric, he retired in 1984. Richard enjoyed bowling, golf, attending OSU football games and his grandchildren's sports & activities. He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings, Stephanie, his wife of 57 years, and grandson, Brian Jones. He is survived by children Rick (Mairlie) Radke, Cindy (Rick) Jones, Patti Allen, and Laura (Ken) Smith. Grandchildren are Jennifer (Bob) Taylor, Lezlie (Ben) Stacy, Doug Smith, Claire Smith, and great grandchildren Molly Taylor and Jack Taylor. In addition, he is survived by numerous nieces and nephews. We would especially like to thank the Concordia Life Care Community nursing staff and Frontier Hospice for their loving, professional care for our dad and support for our family. An evening prayer service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Friday, October 10, 2014 at Smith-Kernke Funeral Home 14624 N. May Avenue. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, October 11, 2014 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church 1901 N. W. 18th with internment to follow at Resurrection Memorial Cemetery.
