Richard Stephen "Rick" Hays

Richard 'Rick' Hays passed away on Sunday, April 11, 2021 at age 71. Rick was born on August 10th, 1949 in Enid, OK to C.F and Frances Hays. Rick was the 5th child of 12 children. He graduated from St. Joseph Memorial High School in Enid, OK and then graduated from Oklahoma State University in 1971 with a degree in Business Administration. Go Pokes!Rick, as well as many of his siblings, excelled at golf. In fact, at one point, he and his brothers made up the entire boys' golf team at school. Rick made several holes-in-one over his lifetime. He was an assistant golf pro at Colonial Golf & Country Club in Ft. Worth, TX from 1975-1981. In 1989, Rick started working at Feed the Children setting up golf tournaments as fundraisers. During the winter months they asked him if he would start a Procurement Department. He said, "Sure! What's a Procurement Department?" He was told to basically call companies on the phone and ask for truckloads of free food to give to children and their families all over the world. He became very successful in procuring many truckloads of food and supplies. In fact, he brought in over one billion dollars worth of gifts-in-kind donations for children in need over his 30 year career at Feed the Children. Golf was his hobby, but sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ was his passion. He shared Jesus with everyone he met including family, delivery drivers, homeless people on street corners, and every nurse that came to his home during his sickness. It didn't matter to him, as everyone needs Jesus. Rick loved his family deeply and enjoyed spending time with his wife, children, and grandchildren. They made many great memories getting lessons on the golf course. He was preceded in death by his parents, C.F.
