Richard W. Beck

Richard W. Beck, age 82, passed from this earth July 9, 2010. Richard was born Sept. 5, 1927, in Manawa, WI, the oldest of 10 siblings of George and Esther Beck. Richard was preceded in death by his daughter, Darlene, parents, and two brothers. Throughout his lifetime Richard belonged to service organizations. He was an Eagle Scout and also served in the Merchant Marines, the Air Force, the Air National Guard, VFW Post 1857 Commander for 7 years and VFW All-State Commander. He dedicated his life to serving others. As a family man, he will be remembered as "project" oriented, determined and generous. He is survived by his wife of nearly 60 years, JoAnn; three children, Mary Louise Haas, twin sons, Robert and Richard; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to VFW Post 1857 to support the Voice of Democracy Program, 1103 N. Blackwelder, OKC 73106. A prayer vigil will be held at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 1901 NW 18th at 7 p.m. July 12. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on July 13th at the church.
