Robert Andrew Holt was born April 24, 1931 in Haynesville, Louisiana and went to be with his heavenly Father on March 1, 2016 in Oklahoma City. "Bob" grew up in Little Rock, Arkansas with his family and four brothers, mother Vonceil, father Willard, brothers Willard Jr, Glen, Bill and Jerry Holt. Bob was the second youngest right in front of Jerry. He met his soon to be wife Elizabeth Ann at the Blass department store in Little Rock and they were married on St. Patrick's Day, March 17, 1951. They would have been married 65 years this month. They moved to Oklahoma City in 1954 for Bob's job with the Republic Supply where he worked until retirement. Bob was a longtime member of Messiah Lutheran Church. He and Liz had three girls, Linda, Laney and Lisa. He loved fishing along the White River near his hometown with his brothers in Arkansas as well as hunting; and he was always in the garden growing the best tomatoes anyone has ever tasted. However, Bob's one true passion was golf. He loved to be on the golf course with his friends at Surrey Hills Golf Club. He was a member for over 30 years and spent most of his glory days out on the course with a golf club in hand, an un-lit cigar in his mouth, and always a huge smile on his face. He was also known as the "watch dog" to many of his neighbors, and could be found usually in his garage helping a neighbor or a grandchild with building or tinkering on a project. He was the best grandpa there ever was to his grandchildren. He would sit in his chair and hug them as tight as he could until they would wiggle out of his arms; the laughter would follow with excitement to have broken free from his clenching hug. He would do anything for them and all six of them adored him, as did his four great-grandchildren. Every day was a gift to him when they would visit and you could see it in his one good eye. His nickname recently had become "Eye-Patchy" and the great-grandbabies thought having a pirate for a Great-Grandpa was the coolest. He was preceded in death by his parents, Willard and Vonceil Holt, and brothers Willard Jr., Glen and Bill Holt. He is survived by his youngest brother Jerry Holt; wife of 64 years Elizabeth Ann Holt; daughters Linda Quigley and her husband Paul, Elaine "Laney" Carey and her husband Mitchell, Lisa Boswell and her husband David; grandchildren, Samantha Quigley Guffey and her husband Matthew, Heather Carey Lovett and her husband James, Justin Quigley, Erica Carey Smith and her husband Brady, Andrew Boswell and wife Caitlin, and Tanner Boswell; great-grandchildren Keaton and Gannon Guffey, Bosun Lovett and Sullivan Smith. Memorial gifts to St. Jude's Children Research Hospital. There will be a visitation with the family present on Friday March 4, 2016 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Smith and Kernke Funeral Home on North May Ave.
