Robert Carey Kendrick was born June 25, 1921 in Alva, Oklahoma to Van and Gertie Kendrick and died December 11, 2012 in Oklahoma City at the age of 91 years, 5 months, and 16 days. Bob served during WWII in the 45th Infantry Division spending 3 years in Africa and Europe. After the war, he completed college and had a wonderful career as an Educator, Counselor, and coach. He was a favorite of so many of the students he taught or helped because he would go the extra mile for anyone. Bob was a big sports fan and enjoyed following his sons and grandchildren's sporting careers. He enjoyed playing golf and fishing. He was a kind and caring man and loved his family without reserve. Bob was active in the Alva community serving on the Alva City Council. He also served as President of the Northwestern Alumni Association and as an Elder in the Presbyterian Church. Bob is survived by his wife of 67 years Lorraine Herd Kendrick of OKC; Sons, Randy (Lynda), Rick (Dani), and Ron (fiancé Gina Martin); Grandchildren, Kris (Adrienne), Kara Anderson (Matt), Dani Mills (Daughter Kylee), Lynnsey McFarland (Daniel), Ricky Kendrick Jr.; Brothers, Bill (Leslie) and Ken (Nancy); Many great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the NWOSU Foundation or the Presbyterian Church in Alva.
