Robert Donley Craig was born August 30, 1947, the first of five children of Don and Dorothy Craig. He grew up in the Catholic community of St. Patrick's and graduated from Northwest Classen High School. Bob worked his way through college, receiving bachelor's and law degrees from Oklahoma City University. As he was about to start his last year of law school, a new law student, Nancy Gorman, moved in next door. They fell in love and spent thirty years happily married, practicing law together in Luther, Oklahoma and raising two boys, Dan and Steve, at Lake Hiwassee before Nancy passed away in 2005. In 2006, Bob met another very special woman, Sandy Thompson Price, with whom he shared much love and compassion for the rest of his life. For forty years Bob was a fixture in the Luther community. He practiced law there from the 1970s until the last months of his life. For ten years he served on the Luther School Board, several of those years as its president. Bob loved flying, a love he learned from his father and passed on to his son. He flew taildraggers and ultralights and later built a homebuilt with his brother-in-law. Bob was a long-time member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Edmond, Oklahoma. He was a good and selfless man, always looking out for the needs of others. He respected the dignity and wisdom of all people. In his work at legal aid, DHS, his own law practice, and on the school board, he fought to ensure that everyone was treated fairly and decently, especially the little guy. He is preceded in death by his wife Nancy Gorman Craig. He is survived by his two sons, Dan and his wife Sally Honda, Steve and his wife Emily; grandsons, Charlie, Huxley, and George; brothers, Mickey and David; sisters, Sandy Fundom and Mary Ann Schmitt; his special sweetheart Sandy Thompson Price; and numerous nieces, and nephews. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, which provided assistance to Bob during his illness, or United Cerebral Palsy, which has helped his grandson. Bob also received lifesaving blood transfusions during his illness. Blood donations may be made to the Oklahoma Blood Institute. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, June 15, 2017 at 10 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Luther Cemetery.
