Bob Shea passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 28, 2013 at Mercy Hospital surrounded by his family. Bob was born in Alva on Nov. 24, 1930. His family moved to Oklahoma City in his youth where he was an active member at St. Joseph Old Cathedral Catholic Church. Upon graduating from St. Joseph High School, Bob went to work for Graybar Electric as a salesman. He was married to his high school sweetheart, Mary Sellars, until her death in 1972. Bob worked in a number of progressively challenging positions, all within the electrical contracting industry where he is considered a true professional. His fingerprints are on many high profile projects in central Oklahoma, including Union Plaza, Oil Center Buildings, Paragon Building, Lake Hefner Lighthouse, IRS Building, FBI Building, Robinson Renaissance and the Lazy E Arena. Bob retired in 2010. He loved sports of all kinds, especially basketball. He was an avid OSU fan, attending many athletic events. Being proud of his Irish heritage, he was also a great fan of the University of Notre Dame. He will continue cheering his favorite teams from a new reserved section. Bob is preceded in death by his parents, John and Clara; siblings, Maxine Hull, Zelma Brand, and John P. "Jack" Shea; wife, Mary; daughter, Margaret Mary. Bob is survived by his loving wife of nearly 30 years, Janie; and children; Larry and wife Vickie of Wellston, Kathy Dittmaier and husband Tom of Townsend, TN, Susie James and husband Tom of York, PA, Jenni Hillman and husband Brian of Piedmont, and Brent Harrell of Houston, TX; 9 grandchildren: Christie Shea, Heather Shea, Meghann Ferguson (Doug), Matthew Shaw, Jennifer Kirk, Doran and Thalen Hillman, Tiffany Titsworth (Dale), Shawna Elkins and Matt James and 11 great-grandchildren. Bob's life will be celebrated with a prayer service on Wednesday, June 5 at 6 pm at Smith & Kernke. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Thursday, June 6 at 1 pm at Christ the King Catholic Church, 8005 Dorset Drive, Oklahoma City. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations are made to the Mercy Health Foundation of Oklahoma City or Catholic Charities of Oklahoma City.
