Robert Fulton, Jr., 86, born July 20, 1930, in Tuttle, OK, went home January 15, 2017. Our patriarch was surrounded by his loving family. His beloved wife of 58 years, Betty June, will welcome him into Heaven's arms. Robert is also preceded in death by their son, Robert Mark; his parents, Robert, Sr. and Ruby May; and brother, Kenneth.
The oldest of four children, "Bob" grew up in Chickasha, OK, before attending Washington and Lee University in Lexington, VA. After a summer romance with Betty June Busby, a beautiful young woman from his hometown, he transferred to The University of Oklahoma where he graduated with Masters studies and a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration.
Bob and Betty were married August 10, 1951. Soon after they moved to Wichita, KS, where Bob served in the U.S. Air Force. They subsequently returned to their hometown to work for the family auto dealership, Fulton Motor Company. A move to OKC in 1965 led to a successful career in insurance sales and investments, most notably in apartment complexes. Bob's intuitive and astute business abilities continued in the oil and gas industry well into his retirement years.
Bob will be remembered as a beloved apartment landlord and a loyal friend who brought immense joy to all who were fortunate enough to know him. He was a remarkable man with an endearing smile, infectious laugh, and marvelous sense of humor. He perfected the art of whistling and also enjoyed traveling and photography, which took him and Betty to every continent on Earth.
Carrying on his legacy of wisdom, laughter, adventure, and love are daughter, Judy Ingalsbe (Doug) Edmond, OK; beloved granddaughters, Britta Shaub (Kenny), Fort Worth, TX; Kristen Dennis (Dillon), Edmond, OK; and Sierra Albertson, Guangzhou, China; grandsons, Robert and Joshua; four step-grandchildren, Ashley, Caleb, Molly, and Sarah Ingalsbe; and great-granddaughter, Emmy Kate Dennis (due to arrive in May). He is also survived by his sister, Neoma and brother, Raymond.
The family wishes to thank the staff of Iris Memory Care for their exceptional, compassionate care in Bob's final days. Gratitude is also offered to Dr. Justin Sparkes, those who provided quality care at Mercy Hospital and Hospice, Heritage Point, and Oklahoma Hospice, and to all who were attentive to Bob's needs over the years. A special thanks to long-time caregivers, Karen McGrath and Hermila Carrillo, as well as heartfelt thanks to Tammy Jackson for immensely blessing Bob's quality of life with her loyal and loving care throughout the many years of his illness.
Services will be 2pm Tuesday at Smith & Kernke May Chapel followed by graveside at Resurrection Memorial Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Alzheimer's Association, as the search for a cure continues.
