Bob was born January 4, 1932, in Le Center, MN, the second son of three children to Joseph and Bessie (Kuchynka) Koktavy. Bob attended St. John's University in Collegeville, MN, earning a bachelor's degree in Business and Economics in 1954, and then entered the army. Bob made sure he was at every soccer, basketball, and softball game, as well as attended each dance recital and school play. Bob also enjoyed being a part of the senior computer club and visiting the Oklahoma Historical Society.
