Robert Thomas 'Bob Engel' Engel

Bob Engel led a full and beautiful life. He married the love of his life, Sandra Lee, in January 1957, in Hapeville, Georgia. He served in the Army as an E5 (Sergeant) and completed his Bachelor's of Arts degree in History from the UCO (Central State University). Most of his working years were spent in the construction industry and he was proud of his various projects and resulting buildings. For over 30 years, Bob was a beloved and winning coach for all his own children and hundreds of other kids in football, basketball, baseball and softball. He also loved to golf, was an avid reader, and loved to garden. Bob served on the Board of Directors for the Salvation Army and was active in the AGC, American General Contractors, for many years. He is most proud of his long and happy marriage to Sandra, their 6 children, their 11 grandchildren and their 11 great grandchildren. Bob lived his life as a devout Roman Catholic, treasured the Mass, receiving the Eucharist and sending his 6 children to Catholic school through high school. Bob loved to do anything with his family – travel to Atlanta, float the Illinois River, spend the day at Turner Falls, make the annual trek to the State Fair of Oklahoma, or just enjoy a holiday dinner with everyone present. Bob's philosophy was always "Live life to the fullest, keep the faith, cherish your family and do your best." He is preceded in death by his father, Jake, his mother, Florence, his brother, Carl, and his sister, Alma Ruth. He is survived by his 6 children and their spouses (Teresa Lynne Collins/Shelby Collins, Robert Thomas Engel, Jr., Christopher Alan Engel/Marie Madeline Engel; Joseph Glen Engel, Daniel Phillip Engel/Margaret Ann Engel, and Paul Bryan Engel/Theresa Engel); 11 grandchildren (Crystal Shara Malone, Justin Ryan Scott/Melissa Scott, Minda Leigh Smith, Amber Tinsley-Williams/Shawn Williams, Joshua Taylor Engel/Amanda Nicole, Anne Marie Engel, Joseph Christopher Engel, Grace Catherine Engel, Madeline Jayne Engel, James Robert Engel, and Caroline Margaret Engel); and 11 great grandchildren (Felix Malone, Kennedy Malone, Alexis Scott, Lucas Scott, Corbin Smith, Connor Smith, Colton Smith, Etta Williams, Kaylee Engel, Ava Engel, and Rory Engel, his brothers Jake Engel, Jr. and Al Engel, many nieces and nephews, and most dearly, his beautiful, loving wife of 57 years, his Georgia peach, Sandra Lee Engel. We will all miss you Bob, our fearless leader - our Dad, our "Grandpa", "G'pa", "PawPaw", and our "GG." In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Catholic Charities of Oklahoma.
