Robert Wayne Martin was born on August 21, 1935 in Oklahoma City and born in heaven on November 13, 2015. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ruth Swope Martin and Ray O. Martin. Survivors include his sister, Linda R. Carr and her husband David K. Carr: three nephews, Michael Carr and Carmen with baby Senna due in December, Steven Dickson, his wife Angela, their four children, Sophia, Rachel, Lilian and Jacob, and Darren Carr, his wife Nicole and their daughter, Alexandria. Also, many friends and a host of family members. Robert graduated from Capitol Hill High in 1953 and enlisted in the U.S. Air Force for four years. He served in Tripoli, Libya and at Tinker AFB in OKC. He held varied positions in OKC and Dallas. Robert also, tried his hand in business with a successful Big Ed's Hamburger franchise in Tulsa before moving back to OKC. "Bob" Martin was a social worker in Medical Assistance for nursing home care with the Dept. of Human Services. He retired in 1999 after 25 years of dedicated service to those he served. Robert Martin was ordained into the Independent Catholic priesthood on December 18, 1992 as a "worker" priest. He pastored Holy Trinity Ecumenical Catholic Church in Oklahoma City for nine years. As a bishop, he established new parishes in many other cities. He retired from ministry in 2001. Viewing will be from 6 pm to 8 pm on Thursday at Smith & Kernke Funeral Home, 14624 N. May Ave. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, November 20 at 11 a.m. St. Augustine of Canterbury Episcopal Church, 14700 N. May Ave. where Robert has been an active lay member in recent years. Interment will follow at Fairlawn Cemetery in Oklahoma City. In lieu of flowers, Robert requested that memorials be made to St. Augustine of Canterbury Episcopal Church.
