Roger was born on December 31, 1950 in St. Louis, Missouri, the oldest son of Martin and Ernie Grommet. He passed away unexpectedly on May 14, 2015 in California while he was overseeing a project on behalf of his company Boardman. Roger started working in the Steel Fabrication business early in his life. He and his family moved from St. Louis to Oklahoma City in 1974 while working for Continental Boiler, serving in various capacities. In 1987 he became part of Boardman, Inc., and was promoted to VP General Manager in 1994. In 2001 Roger and James Hagemann a very close friend and fellow employee of Boardman became co-owner of the company. He resigned as CEO in 2013, but was still active in the company lending his expertise to younger employees, handling various projects, and working to continue Boardman's 105 year legacy. Roger will be remembered for his passion, intellect and his great laugh. He was an eagle scout, 3rd degree Knights of Columbus and a founding member of St. Monica Catholic Church. He is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Pat of Edmond; his daughter, Katie Shepperd and grandson Noah, age 8 of Moore; his son, Mike Grommet of Oklahoma City; three siblings, Susan Lawton, Jeff Grommet (Barb) and Nancy Grommet all of St. Louis. He will be missed by many nieces and nephews in St. Louis. The family requests, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to OKC Hope Link (okchopelink.org), 5811 Santa Fe Lane, Guthrie, OK 73044. This organization was very important and meant a lot to Roger. There will be a visitation with the family from 6pm to 8:30pm on Wednesday, May 20, 2015 at Smith & Kernke N. May Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11am on Thursday, May 21, 2015 at St. Eugene Catholic Church.
