Ronald Drue Barnard, 75, of Oklahoma City, passed away November 20, 2018. He was born June 13, 1943, in Waco, Texas, to Robert Drue and Laura Mae (Cavanaugh) Barnard. He grew up in Lake Worth and graduated from Lake Worth High School in 1961. Ron became a salesman with Black & Decker in Dallas, TX, in 1964 and married Sue Truly, his wife of 53 years, on January 9, 1965. His first child, Suzanne Nicole was born in 1968 and his son, Bryan Scott in 1971. He was transferred to the Oklahoma City Black & Decker Service Center in 1972. He began working for Whitton Supply in 1988 and worked there until his retirement. He lived out the rest of his years in Oklahoma City.
Ron was a hard worker and a knowledgeable and fiercely competitive salesman. He loved his wife, his children, and his grandchildren. He and his wife were involved with buying and selling antiques and enjoyed that for many years together. He loved the Dallas Cowboys, deer hunting, a good game of 42, John Wayne movies, and taking his grandkids to the park. In addition to his wife and children, those left to cherish his memory are his brother, Douglas Barnard, his sister, Sharon McCoy and her husband, John, his son-in-law, Paul Hostetler, his daughter-in-law, Penny (Coodey) Barnard, his seven grandchildren, Delaney, Tiffany, Thomas, Lillian, Christopher, Katherine, and George, and one great-grandson, Declan. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister-in-law, Kathy Dollar, his brothers-in-law, Robert and William Truly, his mother- and father-in-law, William and Mildred (Sanders) Truly and his son-in-law, Marcin Kobzdej. Visitation is Friday, November 23, 2018, 9 am to 4 pm at Smith and Kernke Funeral Home, 1401 NW 23rd Street, Oklahoma City, OK, 73106. The Rosary (5 pm) & a Requiem Mass (5:30 pm) for the repose of his soul will be said Friday, November 23, 2018, at St. Damien of Molokai Catholic Church, 8455 NW 234th Street, Edmond, OK, 73025. The funeral service (10 am) & burial (immediately following) will be Saturday, November 24, 2018, at Smith and Kernke Funeral Home, 1401 NW 23rd Street, Oklahoma City, OK, 73106 and at Fairlawn Cemetery, 2700 N Shartel Ave, Oklahoma City, OK, 73103.
