Ronald Gene Herrin

Ron was born July 19,1937 in Purcell, Oklahoma. He was preceded in death by his father Robert Herrin, mother Edna Long, brother Morris Herrin, sister-in-law Marie Herrin and nephew Larry Herrin.

Ron lived on a farm outside Wayne, Oklahoma in a 4-room house with no running water or inside toilet with his father and mother until she passed away when Ron was 12 years old. At this young age, he helped his father run the farm by cultivating land, planting and raising crops, feeding and raising livestock for food, riding the tractor for fun, and maintaining the farm equipment as well as doing whatever his dad did that was necessary to make money to survive.

Ron attended all levels of school in Wayne until his graduation in 1955. After his graduation, he commuted from Wayne to Oklahoma City and worked various jobs until he was drafted in the United States Army in 1961. While serving active duty, he was stationed in several locations with his favorites being Colorado Springs, Colorado and Anchorage, Alaska. After serving in the reserves, he was honorably discharged in 1967.

Ron continued working at various jobs in Oklahoma City until joining Mike Bryan Office Products in downtown Oklahoma City. He retired as Executive Vice President after a 42-year career. After retirement, he took the easy life by working in the yard and doing what Ron does best - Enjoying life!

Ron is survived by Stirling Thomas and David Kelly and their miniature schnauzers, Greta and Heidi. He is also survived by his niece Pam Weaver, nephews Billy Herrin and wife Dru, Melinda (Larry’s wife), along with many great nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Ron’s Life will be held in the chapel at Smith & Kernke N. May Friday, September 6, 2024, at 1:00pm.
