Ron was born October 19, 1943 in Tylertown, MS. He was raised in Hammond, LA. After proudly serving in the US Navy, Ron settled down in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He was preceded in death by his wife of 23 years, Gwen DeGruy. Also his parents Jules & Jewell DeGruy and four brothers and two sisters. He is survived by three sons, Clark DeGruy & wife Judy, Vincent DeGruy & wife Linda, Jason DeGruy, two step sons, Randal Wanzer & wife Shari, Kenneth Wanzer & partner Greg, and grandchildren Larry Scott, Jared Wanzer, Sean Wanzer & wife Joni, Amy Juarez, David Juarez, and Sara Juarez, Corey Thompson, Tonya Huber, Kendrick Thompson & wife Kandice, and Shamika James & husband Darius, Larry Scott & wife Christine and 23 great-grandchildren. His biggest pleasures were taking care of his loving wife, Gwen, talking with and visiting with his family, Gwen's family and their friends. Ron always said it was his good fortune to be employed by the Post Office, now known as the U.S. Postal Service, for 32 years and 6 months. That was where he met his 3 best friends whom he was blessed with for over 40 years. Being loved by his family, Gwen's family, and their friends has was an honor which he cherished. He said his blessings were too many to count and his gratitude to the God of his understanding couldn't be expressed in words. God said, "I knew you before I formed you in your mother's womb." It was Ron's belief that his time on this planet was the third phase of his existence. How many phases there are only God knows. He is not gone but has just moved on to what he believed is the fourth phase of his existence. Ron requested that in lieu of flowers donations be made to the church or charity of your choice.
