Ms. Rose Marie Bova, daughter of the late Faust Donnini and Giulia Borgna Donnini, was born May 5, 1926 in Plains, Pennsylvania. She was a first generation Italian-American. Rose was a graduate of Dickson City High School. She was united in holy matrimony to James "Jim" Anthony Bova on June 18, 1949. This union was blessed with their only child, James Gary Bova. As a young woman, Rose was always working. She began working in a dress factory at the age of 16. By the time she was 19 years old, she was promoted to supervisor. She was a business owner most of her life. It started with the Bova Cut-Rate Store. She later opened her own clothing manufacturing company, Smart Styles. At her company's zenith, she employed over 200 employees. She closed the factory in the mid 80's when the garment industry moved overseas. She had been retired about a year when she was recruited to work for Allied Services, a company that employed people with disabilities. She brought her talent of sewing and trained her handicapped and special needs clients how to sew surgical caps and miscellaneous items. She worked for Allied Services for another 20 years and formally retired again at the tender age of 83. Rose was bestowed a long and full life. Her faith and family has always been her number one priority. Rose was a devout Catholic. You would always see her at church on Sunday and every Holy Day of Obligation. In 2011, Rose moved from Pennsylvania to Oklahoma City to be closer to her family. She spent her time between Oklahoma and Texas where she passed along her Italian traditions and recipes.She is preceded in death by her parents, siblings- Mafalda Donnini, Perena Kostiw, Fred Donnini and Denny Donnini, her partner- Edward Levandowski, and her beloved son James Gary Bova.Her beautiful life will forever be cherished in the lives of her family she leaves behind. Granddaughters Keri Bova of Prosper, TX, Kelly Dumont of Edmond, OK, Abby Bova of Oklahoma City, OK, Jessie Levandowski of Marietta, GA, Brenda Perini of East Stroudsburg, PA, Arlene Levandowski of Archbald, PA, 10 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.Her family will forever be grateful for the comfort, love and support Anita Mupingo provided Rose the last several years of her life.Funeral services will be at The Cathedral of Our Lady of Perpetual Help, Friday, December 30th at 1:00 pm. Rose will be interred at Resurrection Memorial Cemetery at a later date.
