Rosemary Ryan, former longtime Duncan resident, died at her home in Oklahoma City on December 8, 2014, with her family at her side. She was born November 15, 1924, in Tampico, Mexico. Her family moved shortly thereafter to Houston, where Rosemary grew up. She moved to Los Angeles, CA, and attended one year of college before returning to Houston. She married Dana C. Ryan on April 18, 1953 and the couple moved to Oklahoma soon afterwards. They settled in Duncan in 1954 and lived there almost 50 years. Rosemary came to Oklahoma City to be near her daughters after the death of her husband. While in Duncan, she was active in the Altar Society of the Catholic Church and the Medical Auxiliary as well as all of the school activities in which her kids were involved. After moving to Oklahoma City, she was a member of St. Eugene Catholic Church Parish. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Dana C. Ryan in 2002; parents, and four brothers, Richard, Peter, Bill and Michael McStravick. She is survived by three daughters, Elizabeth Muncy (Mike), Susan Fondren, and Martha Ryan; one son, Kelly Ryan (Nina); five grandchildren, Madeline and Emma Fondren, Emily Forth (Justin), Audrey Burro (Jeff) and Jack Ryan; three great grandchildren, Olivia and Ethan Forth and Britton Burro; three sisters, Patty Hoyt (Don), Phyllis Panfely (George), and Sharon Schultz; brother, David McStravick (Kathie); three sisters-in-law, Ann and Lise McStravick, and Betty Osborn (Jack); and many nieces and nephews. An evening prayer service will be Thursday, December 11 at 6:30 p.m. at Smith & Kernke May Chapel, 14624 N. May Ave., Oklahoma City. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, December 12 at 10 a.m. at St. Eugene Catholic Church Chapel, 2400 W. Hefner Rd., Oklahoma City. A graveside service will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Highland Cemetery, Pawnee, OK.
