Salwa "Sally" Saied

Salwa "Sally" Simon Saied was born in Shawnee, OK, July 21, 1910 to Najeeb and Adele Simon. Sally was the third of seven children. She grew up in Oilton, OK where she attended high school and excelled in playing basketball. Despite her love for the game, she sacrificed it along with her education and left after the 11th grade to work in her parent's retail store. On May 1, 1949, at the age of 39, she married the love of her life Cecil O. Saied. She and Cecil worked alongside each other in their business Cecil's Women's Wear for 42 years. Her only child, the light of her life, Celia was born in 1952. Sally was a member of the Bonne Heure Club, where she served in a variety of offices including a term as President. She was a devout Christian and a lifelong member of St. Elijah Antiochian Orthodox Christian Church where she was a member of Ladies Aid. Sally was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister and friend. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Cecil O. Saied; parents, Najeeb and Adele Simon; brothers, Sam and wife Jeanne, Ernie, and Floyd Simon; and sister, Smye Farha and husband Dick. She is survived by her only child, daughter, Celia Haddad and husband Joe; and, her greatest joy in life, her three grandchildren, Joseph and wife Bobbie, Michael and fiancée Andi and Lauren Haddad. Sally is also survived by her brothers, Mitchell Simon and wife Mary; Dr. Ralph Simon and wife Carletta; sisters-in-law, Barney and Elsie Simon; brother-in-law Judge William Saied; sisters-in law Edna Mae Killough and Helen Saied and numerous nieces and nephews. The Trisagion will be at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 7, 2010, followed by the Funeral Service at 3:00 p.m. at St. Elijah Antiochian Orthodox Christian Church, 15000 N. May OKC, OK, followed by interment at Fairlawn Cemetery, meal of mercy to follow. Donations to the Flowers That Do Not Wither Fund are entrusted to Smith and Kernke Funeral Home. The family would like to thank Crossroads Hospice, Elite Home Care and the Senior Companion Care Program for their tender care of Sally and her family which allowed Sally to remain at home. A special appreciation is extended to Merlene Amey and Tracey Wilmeth for their compassionate and loving attention to Sally.
