Sharon Lee Poe

Sharon Lee Poe lived an adventure: whether on a Safari in Africa, attending the Paris Air Show, or a guest in the Royal Gallery when Queen Elizabeth opened Parliament. In the last 20 years she lived in London, Brussels, and Alaska. She was at home anywhere, but most special was Oklahoma to which she returned in 2006. Making a difference mattered to Sharon. She was dedicated to family and being able to contribute in a meaningful way to make life worth living. Wherever Sharon was she always shared joy with others. She was a volunteer for Special Olympics in Oklahoma, Brussels, and Alaska. She helped coach the U.S.A. Team Kodiak to the Gold Medal in the World Special Olympic Winter Games. She was assistant Scout Master for the only Special Needs Boy Scout Troop in Alaska. With the aid of volunteer AWACS crews from 11th Air Force, she took her troop to camp each summer for a week in the woods and wilds of Alaska. She was an award winning cook with hundreds of ribbons and Grand Champion trophies. Her life long loves were family and church. Family and friends have always been the miracles that made her life complete. Her life began on September 30, 1947 in St. Louis, MO, born to O. Ray and Pearl Sullens. She is survived by her husband, Patrick; Mother, Pearl Sullens; and brothers, Ray and Gary. She leaves a beautiful legacy in her sons Bill & wife Betty, Preston & wife Jennifer, Sanderson & wife Kelsey; her grandchildren Julia & husband Chad, Patrick & wife Natasha; her great-grandchildren Callie Castor and Andrew Guy Poe. Sharon had one godchild, Lauren Kogelman. Sharon left this world on May 25, 2010 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. She was preceded in death by her Father and brother, Bob. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions in Sharon's memory be made to Sister Sponsa or the Water for Life Project, c/o St. Francis of Assisi Altar Society, PO Box 60569, Oklahoma City, OK 73146. Contributions can also be made to St. Thomas More, 100 East Stinson, Norman, OK 73072.
