Sharon Young

Sharon was born in Lindsay, OK on October 10, 1930 to Huey and Henrietta Sanford. She moved to Oklahoma City in 1942 with her mother and brother to live with their Aunt Kitty. Sharon attended Harding Junior High and Classen High School, and graduated in 1949. She continued her studies at Oklahoma State University (then it was Oklahoma A&M) and was a member of Alpha Chi Omega sorority in 1949 and 1950. While attending Oklahoma State University, she met her first husband, James P. Devine, and they had three children, Chris, Mark and Lori. Sharon was a loving and caring mother to her three children, and being their mother was one of her greatest life accomplishments. She met Gene Young and remarried in 1984, and he had a love for her three children. Gene and Sharon spent 24 years together traveling and playing golf. Sharon had a love for family, life, friends, reading, and music, especially Frank Sinatra. Sharon joined Quail Creek Golf and Country Club in 1960, and was a member until 2021. One of her favorite activities consisted of playing cards, specifically Bridge and Booray, with her dearest friends on Tuesdays followed by an evening dinner. Sharon began attending Saint Charles Catholic Church, and later became a member of Christ the King. She was preceded in death by her mother Henrietta, her second husband Gene Young, and her beautiful children Lori and Chris Devine. She is survived by her loving son Mark Devine and his fiancé Laura, and her two children Channing and Landon. Along with Sharon's younger brother William (Bill) H. Sanford, his wife Paula and their sons Chad, Todd and Scott. As Sharon was able to spend her final moments with her family, she was joined in Heaven with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She was also reunited with her daughter Lori, her son Chris, and her husband Gene. She will forever be missed and remembered fondly by her family and friends, until we are all gloriously reunited in eternity. In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes donations to be made in Sharon's memory to Catholic Charities. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 AM Saturday, July 31, 2021 at Christ the King Catholic Church with a reception to follow. Interment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery in Oklahoma City.
