Shirley Lee Dowd was born in Sedalia, MO on May 14, 1920. She passed away peacefully in her sleep at Mercy Inpatient Hospice after a very recent diagnosis of aggressive cancer. Shirley graduated from high school in Dennison TX in 1936 and then attended college in Kansas. She was married to Frank Ruby from1947 until his death in 1992. Shirley worked for Russell Stover Candies for over 40 years and was an area manager for the last several years. Shirley loved animals and always had dog or cat companions. She was a member of St. Luke's United Methodist Church and enjoyed Sunday School, playing bridge and other activities at the church. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and step son, Frank "Rink" Ruby. Survivors include a brother, Phillip Dowd and his wife Kathy of Duncan, step daughter-in-law, Mary Ruby of Dallas and her family, nieces Linda Dowd and Leanne Kurtzwell, cousin Suzanne Miller of Lampasas TX, and friend, neighbor, and caregiver Carolyn Craven.
