The Lord called Sister Stephanie Sanchez (Allida), home June 15th, 2022. We are sure he placed her at the gate with St. Peter to collect tickets.Sister Stephane was born on September 28, 1945 in the city of Denver, Colorado. She is preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Erma Sanchez. Sister Stephanie is survived by her sister, Beverly Sanchez, brother, Arthur Sanchez, Aunts , Corrine and Mary, Uncle George Ramirez, and many first and second cousins. Sister Stephanie was a member of the Carmelite Sisters for 57 years. Sister was a graduate of Marquette University with a MA in Theology. Sister made her first Profession of Vows on August 16, 1965. After vows Sister served at St. James parish, OKC as Director of Religious Education for 6 years, followed by 8 years as the Director of Religious Education for the Diocese of Tulsa. During the summers, she loved going to the rural areas of Oklahoma in the summer teaching Bible Vacation Schools. Sister found a permanent home in 1982 as theology teacher at Bishop Mc Guinness High School and just retired in December after 41 years. Sister treasured her students and said "I like to ride high with them in victory and to be with them in defeat."Everyone who knew Sister, knew of her enthusiasm for sports. She was a true cheerleader for the students at Bishop Mc Guinness and attended almost all sport activities. She was also not afraid to verbalize her feelings at those games encouraging her students and helping out the Referee to make the right calls. To watch the students grow in their God gifted talent gave her so much pleasure and if they didn't use their talents she would let them know. Prayer was her true vocation and she was constantly praying for anyone who needed prayer. She loved God and neighbor. Always reaching out to help others in any way she could, she lived her faith in action.An evening prayer service will be held Monday, June 20, 2022 at 7:00 pm. with a reception following. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, June 21, 2022 at 10:00 am. Both liturgies will be at The Church of the Epiphany of Our Lord. Burial will follow at Resurrection Memorial Cemetery.
