Sister Mary Evaristus Pellegrini, RSM, 88, entered eternal joy at Mercy Convent in Oklahoma City. She was the beloved daughter of Victor and Alma Anderson Pellegrini in New Orleans, LA which began, for her, a wonderful experience of "the good life." Sister cherished her extended family of loving aunts, uncles, cousins and supportive neighbors. Sister entered the Sisters of Mercy, Webster Groves, MO on September 8, 1944 and made her first profession of vows March 12, 1947. Sister's from Loyola University enriched her ministry as an elementary school teacher. She taught youngsters at St. Alphonsus and St. Michael's, New Orleans and Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Kenner, Louisiana, and Immaculate Conception and Our Lady of Good Counsel Schools in Little Rock, Arkansas. Other ministries in which Sister served included healthcare in New Orleans, Oklahoma City and St. Louis, MO, as well as services with the Sisters of Mercy Generalate in Bethesda, MD. Sister's ministries endeared her to many through her generous spirit of volunteerism in many varied settings. Of special importance to her was her experience of service and contact with the dedicated co-workers, patients and families of Mercy Health Center Convent and Hospital, Oklahoma City. She was preceded in death by her parents and a host of dearly beloved extended family and Community Members of the Sisters of Mercy. Her survivors include immediate cousins and extended family members, Mercy physicians, co-workers/caretakers, Mercy Associates, friends, and Religious Sisters of Mercy. Memorial gifts may be made to Sisters of Mercy Retirement, Mercy Health Center Convent, 4300 W. Memorial Rd, Oklahoma City, OK 73120 and/or Good Shepherd Catholic School at Mercy, 13404 N. Meridian, Oklahoma City, OK 73120. The Rosary will be said at Mercy Health Center Convent Chapel on Wednesday, July 30, 2014 at 4 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Mercy Health Center Convent on Thursday, July 31, 2014 at 11:30 a.m. Interment will follow at Resurrection Memorial Cemetery, Oklahoma City.
