Stan Noxon

Stanley "Stan" Noxon, passed away January 3, 2018. He was born March 27, 1931 in Detroit, Michigan to Stanley Birdsall and Ethelwyn (Coats) Noxon. At the age of 14, he moved to Grand Rapids and called this his home. Music was Stan's passion. Growing up in the big band era, he had his own 14-piece dance band throughout his high school and early college days. In addition, he played in the Shreveport Symphony while stationed in Shreveport, Louisiana as part of his distinguished service to our country as a member of the United States Air Force during the Korean War. Following the war, Stan continued his college studies and earned a degree in Marketing at Michigan State University. This led to a wonderful career with Virco Manufacturing, the largest manufacturer of school furniture in the United States. During his career, Stan earned the distinct honor of being the company's first million dollar and also the first two million dollar sales representative in the company's history. His career took him and his family across the country, living in seven different states, before retiring as the Vice President of Sales in 1997. Stan settled in Edmond, Oklahoma following his retirement where he spent his time volunteering at a local hospital as well as playing pool at the Edmond Senior Center. He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife and the mother of his children, Dolores "Dee" Noxon and a sister, Carol Ann Baker. Stan is survived by his loving wife, Nancy Noxon; daughter, Karen Byrne and her husband Jesse; son, Stephen Noxon; three cherished granddaughters, Katelyn, Gabrielle and Jessica; one sister, Elizabeth Fuehrer. Stan is also survived by numerous loved extended family including Nancy's three daughters, Julie, Kim, Robyn and their families. A memorial service to celebrate Stan's life will be on Saturday, January 20 at 1:00 pm at the Epworth Villa Grand Ballroom located at 14901 N. Pennsylvania Avenue, Oklahoma City, OK 73134.
