It is with great sadness that the family of Stanley Harbour Evans ("Super Stan" to the multitude who loved him) announces his passing of complications from his congenital heart disease on Thursday, January 18, 2018. Super Stan will be forever lovingly remembered by his parents, Lindsey Selph Evans and Stan Evans, his older sister, Elizabeth Evans, his maternal grandparents, Sheralyn and Harry Selph, of Oklahoma City, his paternal grandparents, Susan and Stanley Evans, of Farmers Branch, TX, his aunt and uncle, Ashley Selph Brumby and Otis A. Brumby, III, of Marietta, GA, his aunt, Jenny Evans and Uncle Chris Evans, both of Farmers Branch, TX, and his cousins, Libby, Margaret and Otis A . Brumby, IV, and his many uncles, aunts and cousins in Lima, Peru.
Super Stan was a courageous boy who bravely endured chemotherapy and stem cell transplants to conquer brain cancer; three eye surgeries; seizures; and hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. Even so, he always had a captivating smile that lit up the room. He found humor in the smallest of things and had the best, most contagious laugh. Stan loved his two dogs, swimming, music, and trucks of every size and shape which he referred to as "digs". Even under the worst of conditions, he always had the best outlook and attitude. His short life has positively changed his family and countless others in profound ways.
Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, January 23 at 11:00 a.m. at Christ the King Catholic Church, 8005 Dorset Drive, Oklahoma City with Father Rick Stansberry presiding. A reception will follow the service at the church.
The family wishes to give special thanks to the wonderful physicians and their staffs associated with the Pediatric Oncology Teams at OU Children's Hospital, especially Dr. Rene McNall-Knapp and Dr. David F. Crawford whose extraordinary skills, knowledge and abiding love nurtured Stan and gave us two more precious years with our boy after his brain cancer diagnosis.
The family will be present for visitation at the funeral home on Monday, January 22 from 3:30 until 7:30 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations in memory of Stan be made to Special Care, 12201 N. Western Ave., Oklahoma City, OK 73114.
