Stansell Crawford "Pete" Byers was born November 19, 1935 in Vinita, Oklahoma to Stansell and Vena Byers and raised in Pawhuska, Ardmore, and Wagoner Oklahoma and passed away on May 5, 2015 surrounded by his family. Preceded in death by his loving wife, Sally Byers. Survived by his sister Kathryn Garrett, his daughter Francie Coffey, son-in-law Will Coffey and son S. Brian Byers and daughter-in-law Stephanie Bernhardt Byers and 8 loving grandchildren; Natalie Coffey, Ryan Coffey, S. Daxton Byers, Aubrey Byers, Georgia Byers, Sophia Byers, Lillie Byers and Mollie Byers and many more loving family members. After graduating from Oklahoma State A&M in 1960 and passing his Professional Engineer board on January 13, 1967 he worked as a civil engineer and had a very long successful career. After following in his fathers foot steps to the Oklahoma Department of Transportation, he retired in December of 2000. He also served on the board of visitors of the Professional School of Civil Engineers at OSU from 1988-1991. He served as the chairman of the board at Oklahoma Employees Credit Union for 24 years. Pete was an active member of Quail Springs United Methodist Church, The Young Men's Club and the Elks. He was a loving and kind man that loved his family and grandchildren more than words could express. He will be missed by all. Visitation with the family will be from 6-8pm on Thursday, May 7, 2015 at the funeral home. Funeral service will be held at 2pm on Friday, May 8, 2015 at Quail Springs United Methodist Church. Graveside service will be held at 11am on Saturday, May 9, 2015 at Elmwood Cemetery in Wagoner.
