Stella Jo Hill

Stella Jo Hansen-Hill, former Verden resident and associate of Hansen Funeral Home, died February 22, 2014, in Oklahoma City. She was born January 30, 1917, in Walters, OK, the daughter of Joseph English and Stella Addie Kavanaugh English. She grew up in Walters where her family owned the funeral home there prior to moving to Verden. She spent most of her life caring for children as a daycare director. She was a member of the Methodist Church. Jo enjoyed doing needlework and spending time with her family. She was an avid animal lover, often taking in strays. She was preceded in death by her parents and a half-sister, Maude Hackenberg. She is survived by her daughter, Janet H. Williams of Yukon; son, Joe D. Hansen of Edmond; four grandsons, Mark of Mustang, John of Yukon, Curtis D. of Kilgore, TX, and Jay D. of Edmond; and two great grandchildren, Justin of Edmond and Whitney of Mustang. Graveside services will be held Wednesday, February 26 at 2:30 p.m. at Verden Cemetery.
