Stephen “Steve” Clair Williams, age 72, of Oklahoma City, OK passed away on August 14, 2024, surrounded by family after a short illness. Steve was born on August 9, 1952, in Denver, Colorado, the Son of Herb Williams and Edna Hampton Williams. Steve graduated from Fairview High School (Boulder, CO) in 1970. After moving to Oklahoma and starting his family he went on to college, earning a bachelor’s degree in Political Science from the University of Central Oklahoma in 1990 and his master’s degree in 1993.
Steve married the love of his life Susan Diane Cloud on October 7, 1972, in Oklahoma City, OK. They met while both working at the famous Mr. Steak in North Oklahoma City in 1971. During their almost 52 years of marriage, they were blessed with 5 children, 12 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren.
Steve worked most of his professional life as an Independent Petroleum Landman. His career extended over 5 decades and will be remembered by all he worked with as one of the best title guys around.
Steve had a strong faith in God that was cultivated from his youth in the Methodist Church. As a father and husband, he strengthened his faith and belief in God as a member of the Northwest Christian Church in Oklahoma City until it closed and then a member of New Covenant Christian Church in Oklahoma City. His strong tenor voice would resonate through the sanctuary Sunday mornings as he sang his favorite hymns.
Steve loved music. There was not a genre he did not like. His playlists were full of everything from Rock n’ Roll to the Blues. He enjoyed traveling with Susan and his family. Branson, Las Vegas, New Orleans, and anything Disney were among his favorite destinations. All the traveling allowed him to pursue his hobby of photography. He always had his camera in hand on vacations and loved putting together highly detailed photobooks when the vacations ended. He loved to preserve these memories with his family. However, his biggest passion was food and cooking. He loved shopping for new cookbooks and finding new gourmet recipes to try out. He hosted a “Sunday Supper” every week and invited different friends and family to share his cooking. He loved bringing people to his table and providing them great food and fellowship.
Steve loved his family above anything else. He enjoyed filling his home with family, hosting large gatherings around the holidays. He never missed a school function or sporting event for his kids when they were growing up. Through his love of the outdoors and scouting, he took his sons on all types of adventures from backpacking in New Mexico to canoeing through the boundary waters in Canada. He always found a way to be present.
