Sue Roberts

With hearts full of love and gratitude, we remember the extraordinary life of Karen Sue Walton Roberts, who passed away peacefully at home on November 14, 2024, surrounded by her cherished family. Born on November 16, 1941, in Klamath Falls, Oregon, Sue was the eldest of seven children born to Richard and Nina Walton. Sue grew up in a loving, vibrant household and graduated from Seminole High School in Seminole, Oklahoma, in 1959. She married J.B. Roberts and they raised four beloved children: Jeff, Kelly, Todd, and Scott. As a mother, Sue’s warmth, wisdom, and boundless love shaped her children into remarkable individuals—a legacy she held most dear. Sue was a trailblazer in the oil and gas industry in Oklahoma City, starting her career at Anson in 1980. Over the next four decades, she made her mark at several prestigious oil and gas companies, ultimately culminating her career as a landman. Her dedication, tenacity, and intelligence earned her the respect of her colleagues and peers. In retirement, she embraced life to the fullest, immersing herself in her passions—traveling, hiking, reading, and most of all, spending time with her family and friends.

Family was the cornerstone of Sue’s life. She is survived by her treasured children, Kelly Wagner and husband Glenn, Scott Roberts and wife Lori, and Tammy Roberts. Her loving legacy lives on in her six wonderful grandchildren: Cory Roberts and wife Vanessa, Alex Wagner and wife Justine, Hayden Wagner, Breanna Laughlin and husband Evan, Bryan Beaver, and Samantha Roberts; as well as her three treasured great-grandchildren: Alexander Roberts, Georgia Wagner, and Ellie Wagner. Sue also leaves behind her siblings, David and Karol Walton, Gwen Fisher, Billie Hensley and Susan Baumgartner, and Galen McFall, who shared countless cherished memories with her over the years. Sue was preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Nina Walton, her beloved sons Jeff and Todd Roberts, her sister Linda Toops, and her brother Paul Walton. Sue’s friendships were a vital part of her life. She treasured the love and companionship of her many dear friends, each of whom held a special place in her heart.

A celebration of Sue’s incredible life will take place on Saturday, December 7, 2024, at 2:00 PM at Smith and Kernke Funeral Home and Crematory, 14624 N. May Avenue, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma 73134 The service will be followed by a time of fellowship with family and friends—a moment to share stories, laughter, and the love that Sue so effortlessly inspired. In honor of Sue’s lifelong love of reading, her family kindly requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Dolly Parton Imagination Library, a program that fosters a love of books in children around the world.

Sue was a light in the lives of all who knew her—a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, and friend whose warmth, grace, and kindness will forever be etched in our hearts.
