After a brief battle with cancer Susan Diane Clark passed away July 31, 2016. She leaves behind her husband, Bob; her daughters Courtney Clark of Dallas, Texas, Haley Clark of Dallas, Texas, her son Robert III of New York City, New York and her sister, Cynthia Armstrong and husband Jeffrey Armstrong of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Susan was born November 30, 1956 in Oklahoma City. Her parents, Natalie and Alex McKinnon have preceded her in death.
Susan graduated as valedictorian from Putnam City High School. She attended the University of Oklahoma where she was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta sorority. She was honored as Homecoming RUF/NEK Queen and took many celebratory rides aboard the Sooner Schooner at OU football games.
After completing her formal education with a degree in fashion illustration she pursued a career in graphic design at local advertising agencies. In 1980 she met Bob Clark and they were married in the spring of 1985. The two had a strong bond and each often referred to the other as "their person". The next few years saw the birth of three children. Susan became their full-time mother, a job she relished and at which she excelled. Susan was mentor, advocate and cheerleader for the family. Her influence and effort shows in her children's strength, drive, determination and kindness. All acknowledge her role in their success and have been a source of immense pride for their parents. Husband, Bob, recognizes he has been a beneficiary of her influence as well.
Susan looked forward to her role in helping plan Courtney's upcoming wedding to her fiance, Eric Merriman, of Dallas, Texas on October 1. She had hoped to help make their new house a home. As per Susan's wishes she will be cremated. A memorial service will be held at Smith and Kernke Funeral Home, 14624 North May Avenue on Thursday August 4, 2:00pm
Please take a moment today to remember Susan and keep her family in your prayers.
