Tamula Hope Amend

Tamula Hope Amend, known to all as Tami, was born August 14th, 1966, in San Leandro, CA, and passed away December 21st, 2024, in Oklahoma City, OK. At the age of four, she moved to Oklahoma City with her family. Remaining in Oklahoma City for her childhood, she graduated from Mount Saint Mary’s in 1984. She then moved to Southern California in the early 90’s and had her son, Joel, in 1996. Unfortunately, during that same year, she was diagnosed with lupus, with which she battled for the rest of her life. Despite this, she was able to be a Nanny, volunteered at Joel’s school, and worked with Seniors. In 2020, she returned to Oklahoma City where she spent the remainder of her days to be with her son, family and friends.

She was an avid reader, loved cooking, had a big heart for animals, especially cats, enjoyed China painting as well as many various arts and crafts. She kept up with many friends who lived near and far. However, the thing which was most important to her was spending time with family.

She was preceded in death by her father, Carl G. Amend Jr. She is survived by her son, Joel Amend; mother, Sharan Amend; sister, Dee Savarese and her daughter, Nicole: aunt, Lorie Harned and her husband Eric, and their children Grant and Dylan; significant other, Christopher Harris, and numerous beloved aunts, uncles and cousins of the Amend and Rush families.

A memorial service will be held Monday, December 30th, 2024 at 1PM at Smith & Kernke Funeral Home, 14624 N. May Ave.
