Terry Lynn Downey

Terry was born in Graham, Texas to Claude Wakefield and Margarite (Sostrich) Downey. He served our country in the United States Air Force from 1971 to 1979. He earned his Bachelors in Science and Math from the University of Texas and went on to earn a Masters in Human Relations from Abilene Christian University and later a Masters in Environmental Science from the University of Oklahoma. Terry retired from XTO Energy for 19 years and prior had worked for 15 years with Occidental Petroleum. He was a member of Crossings Community Church. He enjoyed time spent with his golf-buddies, but treasured time shared with his family at their lake house and will be truly missed. He is survived by his wife, Shirley Downey; daughters, Sande Garoutte and her husband Dan and Lynette Gianos and her husband Chris; Grandkids, Cade, Campbell and Camryn Garoutte, Margo and Elizabeth Gianos; father, C.W. Downey; sister, Joan Snell and her husband Dave; niece, Mechelle Bates; nephew, Ty Kennedy; aunt, Robbie Segars; as well as numerous friends and other extended family. Terry was preceded in death by his mother, Margarite. Services will be 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, at Crossings Community Church Chapel with interment to follow at Rose Hill Burial Park.
