Thomas Albert McNew, age 79, of Oklahoma City, passed away as the result of a fall at home on September 1, 2020 in Oklahoma City.Tom was born July 8, 1941 to Albert and Lottie Pearl McNew. He graduated from Northwest Classen High School and Oklahoma State University and served in the U.S. Army Reserves. In business, he became the dominate supplier of oil well log copying technology, the exploration segment of the petroleum industry, which led to him founding Digital Engineering Systems, Inc. In addition to being highly successful and respected in the business world, his gifts and talents were also revealed through his passion for photography, writing, reading, traveling, and fishing.He is preceded in death by his son, Christopher; his parents, Al and Lottie Pearl McNew; and his brother, Russ McNew. Tom is survived by his wife of 38 years, Lydene; sister and brother-in-law, Nancy and Mike Galyean; sister-in-law, Carol McNew; sister and brother-in-law, Nancy and Tom Vincent; son, Andrew McNew; son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Melissa Fahringer; grandchildren, Christopher and Charli McNew, Tyler Fahringer, Christina Stratton, and Sara Nichols.Tom was a deep thinker and gentle soul who was devoted to family and numerous close friends; he was able to make everyone he met feel special. Beloved by his wife, children, grandchildren, and numerous family and friends; he will be deeply missed.A Memorial Service will be held Wednesday, September 9, 2020 at 1:00pm at Smith & Kernke North May Chapel.
