Thomas Gerard (Tom) Comerford, 66, of Edmond, Oklahoma passed away Sunday, January 23 at his home.Born July 5, 1955, in New York, NY to Thomas and Dolores Comerford, Tom grew up in Greenwich, CT with his five younger siblings; Diane, Kathy, John, James, and Jane. He attended St. Mary's High School in Greenwich where he competed in track and field and football. Tom earned a Bachelor's Degree in Marketing from Niagara University in Niagra Falls, NY. While in college, he played hockey, intramural football, and lacrosse. He continued to play hockey into his 60s and made many of his closest friends while playing sports. While attending Niagara, he met Betteanne Erb. They were married on August 6, 1977, at St. William the Abbot Church in Seaford, NY. Together they raised three daughters; Kara, Katie, and Aimee. A career in Media Advertising took him all over the country, including New York, Florida, Indiana, Texas, Georgia, and Oklahoma. He was gregarious and quick to make friends, establishing lifelong friendships wherever he went. Tom was passionate about travel and loved exploring new places and cultures. His journeys took him to places as varied as Italy, Mexico, Ireland, and Poland. He had a keen eye for photography and loved to document his adventures as viewed through his camera lens. He was also a lifelong music enthusiast, whose tastes ranged across a multitude of genres, and was always keen to share his musical discoveries with family and friends.Tom is survived by his wife of 44 years, Betteanne, daughters Kara (Shaun) Jex, Katie Comerford, and Aimee (Ryan) Hock, his grandchildren Hayden Jex, Kaitlyn Jex, Miles Hock, and one granddaughter on the way, and his siblings Diane (Michael) McCormack, Kathy (Bob) Jaeger, John (Michelle) Comerford, and Jane (Joe) Gaffigan. He is preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Dolores Comerford, and brother James.A memorial service is to be scheduled at a later date.In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made in Tom's name to the Sea Turtle Conservancy at conserveturtles.org as Tom was a lifelong lover of marine life, especially sea turtles.
