Thomas H. Maassen

Thomas Harry Maassen was born August 27, 1962 to Christian and Margot (Heinrich) Maassen in Furth, Germany. His parents immigrated to the United States after he was one year old, and at the age of 16, Thomas became a proud U.S. citizen.Thomas attended college and earned a degree in Criminal Justice. His desire to help others along with his selfless nature led to a 25-year career with the Oklahoma City Police Department. Eighteen of those years, Thomas spent in the solo motorcycle unit specializing in enhanced and proactive traffic enforcement, vehicle escorts, traffic flow management, dignitary protection, as well as patrolling and protecting during special events. Thomas was so very honored to have been an escort for several presidents during his time with the department. After retirement in 2009, his love of cars led him to a career with Bob Moore Auto Group. He was a natural and began with Cadillac and most recently worked with Chrysler Jeep Dodge. His infectious smile and outgoing manner led to his becoming the world's greatest salesman. Those same character traits also translated to Thomas making friends any and everywhere and earning the nickname of "Rock Star". Thomas was an avid Dallas Cowboys football fan and enjoyed cheering his team on in person every chance he got. He loved to travel and his favorite places included a beach with his toes in the sand, breeze in his hair, and sunshine on his face. On July 31, 2016, Thomas found and married the love of his life, Tabatha. He was also blessed with the addition of family with Ashley and Dillan. His huge heart was evident in every aspect of his daily life and care for others. His legacy will live on in those he has loved and their love of him will continue unceasingly throughout their lifetimes.Thomas also loved animals and has been the best friend to several lucky dogs over the years.After a brief illness, Thomas left our world far too soon, on March 28, 2021, with the love of his life Tabatha and best friend Tommy at his side. He is survived by his beloved wife, Tabatha; his loving parents, Christian and Margot; brother, David Maassen; his step-children, Ashley Tyler and Dillan Tyler; and nephew, Brendan Maassen. He is also survived by numerous extended family as well as a huge host of friends. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, April 2, 2021, at Church of the Servant in Oklahoma City. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to honor Thomas may do so by contributing to the Oklahoma Humane Society.
