Thomas Peter Hamill

Thomas Peter Hamill (93) of Oklahoma City died on June 16, 2015. He was born in Oklahoma City on May 27, 1922 to Claude Daniel and Mattie Mae Hamill. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Claude Dan Hamill, sisters Mona Pauline and Lois Geraldine, and grandson Austin David Golightly. He was married to Sally Jean Rosenaur in Mena, Arkansas on July 26, 1952. He was a graduate of Capital Hill High School, Oklahoma State University, and the University of Oklahoma School of Law. During World War II, he served in the United States Marine Corps in the Pacific Theater and the occupation of China and with the First Marine Division in Korea in 1950 and 1951. Following service in Korea, he was active in the Marine Corps Reserve and retired as a Lieutenant Colonel. From 1951 to 1957, he was an Assistant County Attorney in Oklahoma City. From 1957 until his retirement in 1985, he was an attorney for Mobil Oil Corporation working in Oklahoma, Texas, New York, England, Indonesia, and Norway. He was a member of All Souls Episcopal Church, a 32nd degree Mason and a Shriner, a member of the Oklahoma and Texas Bar Associations, the OSU "O" Club, the Chosen Few Veterans of the Korean War, and the Greens Country Club. He had traveled the world and visited all 50 states. He is survived by his wife of nearly 63 years, Sally Jean Hamill, four daughters, Nancy Golightly and husband Charles of Glen Head, New York, Martha Beam and husband Rodney of Carrollton, Texas, Julia Hamill of Oklahoma City, and Virginia Gross and husband Michael of Shawnee, Kansas, seven grandchildren, Thomas and Robert Golightly, Melissa and Melinda Stammer, Sandra Hamill, and Samuel and William Gross, and brother James and his wife Dorothy of Oklahoma City. The family would like to thank Dr. Michael K. Crawford for keeping him in good health for many years, All Souls Episcopal Church for providing spiritual guidance and support, and Crossroads Hospice for care and comfort during his final days. A Memorial Service will be held at All Souls' Episcopal Church at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 20, 2015. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to All Souls' Episcopal Church, 6400 North Pennsylvania Avenue, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma 73116.
